Key milestones: three decades of innovation

From pioneering radiology-focused Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) solutions to today’s enterprise-wide platform that brings all imaging specialties into a single, connected ecosystem, AGFA HealthCare has continually advanced medical imaging.

• 1991: AGFA HealthCare helps launch the digital imaging era with one of the world’s first radiology PACS, IMPAX®.
• 2002: With the acquisition of Mitra, AGFA HealthCare deepens its expertise in digital imaging and lays the foundation for Enterprise Imaging.
• 2005: AGFA HealthCare is selected by Accenture to deliver digital imaging management for the NHS National Programme for IT. The same year, the acquisition of Heartlab expands its leadership into cardiovascular imaging.
• 2014: The Enterprise Imaging Platform is launched, a unified and scalable solution that brings every image, specialty and department together, from radiology and cardiology to orthopedics, pathology and more.
• 2017: With RUBEE® AI, AGFA HealthCare’s augmented intelligence suite, the Enterprise Imaging platform gains its first radiology AI algorithm.
• 2018: KLAS® recognizes AGFA HealthCare as a strong partner for health systems.
• 2019: Enterprise Imaging grows with the introduction of cloud services.
• 2022: AGFA HealthCare is named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape European Enterprise Medical Imaging 2022 Vendor Assessment.
• 2023: AGFA HealthCare earns Best in KLAS® in the PACS Middle East/Africa category.
• 2024: Tampa General Hospital becomes the first Enterprise Imaging Cloud/SaaS site; Enterprise Imaging adds cloud-native capabilities for streaming and workflow orchestration; AGFA HealthCare receives the 2024 Best in KLAS® award in the Universal Viewer (Imaging) category.
• 2025: A KLAS® triple win: #1 Best in KLAS for the XERO® Viewer and the VNA, and KLAS® Most Improved Software Product; HITRUST certification confirms the commitment to cybersecurity and data protection.
• 2026: Enterprise Imaging PACS Small (<300), Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) and Universal Viewer (UV) win in 3 Best in KLAS® 2026 segments.
