Protecting Microfiche in Drawers with Molecular Sieves

How to place Molecular Sieves in microfiche drawers to give fiche the same protection that roll film boxes receive.

Molecular Sieves are designed to be placed in microfilm roll boxes, but many archives store microfiche in dedicated drawers. This guide shows how to use the sieves in a microfiche drawer to provide the same level of protection as in boxes.

Highlights

  • Molecular Sieves packets are placed at regular intervals between rows of fiche in each drawer column
  • In the example layout, five packets are spaced evenly from front to back in each drawer column
  • This arrangement provides protection similar to placing a sieve in a roll film box
