Familiedyrlaegerne, a group of three small animal hospitals and a satellite clinic in the Himmerland region of Denmark, became the first veterinary practice in Denmark to install Agfa HealthCare DX-D detectors in December 2010. At each of the three main sites, a DX-D system replaced analog film.

Highlights

  • Three DX-D systems with MUSICA2 image processing
  • Image quality beyond expectations and instant image sharing between clinics
  • The first installation took two days and the next two took half a day each; one hour of training was enough
  • Faster imaging, no lost images and less time overall
  • No more space for film processing and storage, and no chemicals
  • The systems are adapted to the specific positions used in animal imaging; service by Agfa HealthCare and its partner Kruuse

Description

The group treats 15,000 to 20,000 pets a year, including dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents, birds and exotics, and has ten veterinarians and 20 nurses and administrative staff. The clinics are 30 to 50 km apart, and the veterinarians specializing in dentistry, orthopedics, dermatology and radiology needed shareable digital images for consultation.

According to Dr. Torben Lindbjerg, CEO and specialist in veterinary dentistry, DR today has the required quality and is also faster than CR. Pet owners can also see the clear images and take them home on a CD.
