Agfa HealthCare There For Vets Magazine, Volume 1
First issue of There For Vets, with case studies and interviews on the veterinary move from analog film to Agfa HealthCare CR and DR.

There For Vets is Agfa HealthCare's publication for veterinarians. Its first issue, with seven case studies and two interviews, looks at the role of the company's CR and DR solutions in transforming veterinary care.
Highlights
- CR and DR involve no film processing, eliminating darkroom space, film archives and hazardous chemicals
- Eliminating retakes saves money and reduces dose for the animal, its owner and the veterinarian
- Image acquisition takes about 30 to 60 seconds with CR and a few seconds with DR
- CR costs roughly half as much as DR and has a workflow similar to film; DR is faster and more convenient for mobile use
- Disciplines such as equine practice usually choose DR, while companion animal clinics usually choose CR
- Agfa image processing produces consistent, high-quality images for every body part, size and type of animal without intervention by the veterinarian
- At the time of publication, about 1,400 Agfa HealthCare digital solutions had been installed in veterinary practice
In this issue
- Interview with Marc De Fré on the veterinary transition from analog to digital
- University Veterinary Clinic, University of Liège, Belgium
- Christchurch Veterinary Surgery and Veterinary Referrals, Ipswich, England: DR in a referral clinic
- Vet-Rad Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, Ohio, USA: veterinary teleradiology
- Georgia Sea Turtle Center, USA: digital imaging in turtle rehabilitation
- Interview with Simon Kirk-Johansen of Jørgen KRUUSE on the benefits of digital imaging in Scandinavian clinics
- Familiedyrlaegerne, Denmark: the first veterinary DX-D detector in Denmark

Description
According to Marc De Fré, pet owners look for the best treatment, and veterinary medicine, like human medicine, is moving toward specialization. As the price of digital systems falls, many veterinary centers can convert their film equipment to digital. With Agfa systems, the veterinarian selects the exam on the workstation, the parameters are sent to the generator and the image is optimized for reading after acquisition. Other benefits mentioned include carrying the system in a mobile van, electronic storage for follow-up and sharing images for a second opinion.
