Agfa at RSNA 2022: Empowering X-ray Experts

In a press release dated 10 November 2022, Agfa announced that it would present a range of digital radiography solutions at RSNA 2022 under the theme Empowering X-ray Experts: intelligent tools that help improve patient care through high image quality, smoother workflow and the lowest possible dose.

DR 100s with SmartXR

The DR 100s was designed in collaboration with users around the world. Its tube head with ZeroForce technology allows almost effortless manual movement in three axes, and its vertical movement has been made faster. The ability to center the beam on the anatomy without losing the tube angle has been added, along with safety features that prevent collisions between the tube and the display. SmartXR acts as a predictive workflow assistant to improve efficiency and consistency of results.

DR 800 with DSA

The DR 800 is a multipurpose system that enables the full range of radiography and fluoroscopy examinations with a single investment. The DSA capability provides a smooth workflow for angiography examinations, and Dynamic MUSICA processes fluoroscopy images with the same high quality at low dose.

VALORY and Dura-line

VALORY, with a ceiling-mounted or floor-mounted tube, has a simple design and functionality that goes beyond basic needs, and is supplied with MUSICA processing. The Cesium Iodide detectors of the Dura-line family offer the following:

• Potential for significant patient dose reduction
• 15 hours of battery life
• Sharing between different modalities using NFC technology
• Sizes of 10x12 inch (25 x 32 cm), 14x17 inch (36 x 43 cm) and 17x17 inch (43 x 43 cm)

SmartXR

Using integrated sensors and cameras, AI software, 3D machine vision and deep learning, SmartXR acts as an intelligent assistant to the radiographer. The full SmartXR suite is available for the DR 100s and the DR 600 room, and the SmartRotate capability, which automatically presents images in the correct orientation for viewing and comparison in PACS, has been released for all Agfa CR and DR systems.

According to the release, tests with board-certified radiologists have shown that Cesium Bromide (CR) and Cesium Iodide (DR) detectors combined with MUSICA can reduce dose by 50 to 60% compared with traditional Barium Fluoro Bromide CR systems.
